
Most Nikon DX-format SLRs can be bought either on their own, or in a kit with the consumer-level 18-55mm VR. For many people, that lens is either too short, not wide enough, or — as in my case — both. In January 2008 Nikon announced a very interesting lens, which is both wider than the kit at 16mm, and longer at 85mm. This brings to DX format the extra wide-angle boost that full- frame FX shooters have had for a while with the 24-70 and 24-120 VR lenses.
