Inside, there is the lens itself complete with front and rear caps. Here, Nikon have to be commended for the fact that they've been supplying "center-pinch" lens caps for years now. Anyone who has used older or non-Nikkor lenses with the old side-pinch caps will know how much more convenient these are when you want to remove or replace the lens cap in a hury.
Nikon also supply the HB-39 petal lens hood to protect the front element of the lens from direct light and avoid flare, and the Nikon soft lens pouch that's become standard for this class of optic.
Finally, along with the warranty card, there is a multi-language instruction booklet that is relatively brief, but does go into some detail on the VR system and how best to use wide-angle lenses.
