Nikon has recently announced the P6000 successor in the Coolpix P7000. Featuring a 10.1 megapixel, 1/1.7" sensor, a 7.1x 28-200mm lens with optical VR, RAW shooting (in Nikon’s Coolpix-specific NRW format, not NEF), and a 3-inch 921k-dot high-resolution LCD, this camera is designed to appeal to those who may have been considering Canon’s G11.

An interesting story was published by AP today, about a Nikon Coolpix in a waterproof case that was lost at sea during a dive in Aruba – and found washed up in Miami six months later.

When shooting in a user setting mode at an image quality setting of NRW (RAW) + Fine, NRW (RAW) + Normal, or NRW (RAW) + Basic and Distortion control enabled, some JPEG images were corrupted. This issue has been resolved.

Trusted Reviews have given the 14.5 megapixel (!) Nikon CoolPix S710 the once-over, and it gets a fairly average 7 out of 10 overall.
